# General Setup Guide

OctoEverywhere[ provides a free cloud MCP server for 3D Printing](https://octoeverywhere.com/mcp?source=help_mcp_general), usable by any AI assistant or agent that supports MCP. It's secure and private by default, and is extremely easy to set up. OctoEverywhere has a [Privacy Commitment](https://help.octoeverywhere.com/privacy) to protect your data.

OctoEverywhere's remote MCP server works with any AI assistant or agent that supports remote MCP HTTP servers and OAuth authentication. We designed our server to be as compatible as possible.

### Set up Your 3D Printer Remote MCP

1. Go to the MCP server configuration/settings in your AI tool or agent.
2. Use the following URL as the remote MCP server URL.
   1. [https://octoeverywhere.com/api/mcp](https://octoeverywhere.com/api/mcp)
3. If needed, select an HTTP transport and OAuth authentication.
   1. Note that no other OAuth authentication details are required; the client will automatically discover them.
4. Add the MCP server.
5. Use the authentication flow to log in to your OctoEverywhere account.
6. Done!
